About Love Transfusion

Connecting people who hurt with those who care.

Love Transfusion, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Since 2010, we have been building a new way for people to show they care: a way that lets anyone, anywhere, send real encouragement to someone walking through the hardest moments of their life.

We share a person’s story with a community that cares. That community answers with messages, prayers and kind words from around the world, and keeps answering for as long as the person needs it. We call each of those messages a Love Transfusion. Since 2010, that community has sent 12+ million expressions of support.

Many caring people. One person, held.

Why Love Transfusion was created

In Kevin’s own words.

In the fall of 2007, I underwent an emergency appendectomy. While the procedure itself went smoothly, further tests revealed symptoms “suggestive of metastatic disease” (Stage IV cancer). Two weeks later, radiologists at another medical facility reached the same conclusion, with test results again “suggesting metastatic disease.” Although it wasn’t an official diagnosis, from my perspective, the outlook seemed grim.

Thankfully, after months of testing and scans, doctors determined that I was cancer-free. All that remained were multiple non-calcified nodules scattered throughout both lungs.

Although those months were the hardest of my life, they also gave me an understanding of the feelings of fear, uncertainty, and isolation many experience when facing life’s darkest moments.

Some of my clearest memories were, in moments of despair, of making my way to my computer in the middle of the night – hoping to see a message from someone. Fortunately for me, I am blessed with an extended network of family and friends. And over those months, many reached out with compassion, hope and love.

In the years that followed, I have had a burning desire to help others in the midst of similar battles. Regardless of the situation, there is something we can all do to infuse a degree of hope and peace back into the lives of those who are hurting… and that is simply to let them know we are there and that we care.

Who we serve

Our mission is based on one simple fact: Love works.

People who hurt find great solace when they know that family, friends and even complete strangers care for them. Love Transfusion serves as a conduit and facilitates expressions of love and support through the services we offer.

Every day, people around us are quietly fighting battles with fear, pain, and loneliness. This includes the homebound, disabled, elderly and those grieving the loss of loved ones. Millions more face devastating illnesses or mental health struggles, often in isolation. Love Transfusion exists so no one has to walk through those experiences feeling alone.

People come to us facing

Injury
Grief
Fire
Addiction

Anxiety
Depression

A story is never shared without permission: from the person, or from a parent or guardian when the person is a child.

What makes us different

Love that flows back to the person.

Many people want to show they care but don’t know how and as a result do nothing. Love Transfusion gives them a simple, safe and convenient way to act on what they already feel. Here is how it flows.

1

A story goes out

A family or friend tells us about someone walking through a hard season. With permission, we share that person’s story with a social community 105,000+ strong.

2

People answer

Caring people from around the world send messages, prayers and kind words from a computer, tablet or phone. We transform scattered gestures into a powerful, united outpouring of support.

3

The person is carried

The support reaches the person and keeps coming for as long as they need it. There is no cost to them, and they choose how much to share and with whom.

For the first time in history, because of the Internet and mobile devices, we now have the ability to instantaneously connect those who hurt with those who care.

In their words

What families and friends have told us.

“I’d just like to say a very, very big thank you to you for doing a post about my nephew. My sister and myself have sat down and read each and every one of the messages of hope that have been posted and we have both been in tears at the amount of love and good wishes coming his way because of this post. I am very proud to be part of the Love Transfusion community and thank you so, so much from the bottom of my heart.”
Sharon W.- Manchester, UK
“What a lovely page you have. Thank you from a parent who has lost a child for thinking of those that need it the at the most difficult of times. It can take just a second to send a message to someone but the impact can last a life time. Thanks.”
Belinda T. – Melbourne, Australia
“I just wanted to let you all know that this is amazing what you do. I would never have imagined that this was as good and helpful as it is. Thank you so much for getting people’s stories out and read, because as people, I think we’re getting too caught up in the world and not focusing on what’s really important. So again I thank you for your time.”
Monique H. – Calumet Park, Illinois
